Douce Nuit, Sainte Nuit (also known as Cantique de Noël or Minuit, Chrétiens) is a traditional Christmas carol written in French by poet and priest Placide Cappeau in 1847. It has been translated into numerous languages and is one of the most popular Christmas carols in the world. The song is a prayer to the Baby Jesus, asking for peace and joy to come to the world. The original French version of the song was composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 and has been performed by numerous artists over the years, including La Magie de Noël.
