Shockingly, Lingopie actually delivers everything they advertised and more. I was skeptical. Would the functions work? Or be helpful? Would the movies be entertaining? Yes, yes, and YES! I'm learning so much in such a short amount of time. I absolutely love clicking on the unknown words because the program automatically creates a flashcard pile for review later and will generate a quiz. Also, being able to read and listen to each word or the full subtitled dialogue is PERFECT for listening comprehension as well as speaking practice. I love this so much, I upgrade my membership to the family plan so my friends can also improve their language skills. I heard about this from a YouTube ad; I'm so glad I decided to take a chance.

Lingopie is helpful on so many levels. The content is varied and amusing, which makes you want to continue. I understand most of what is said without English subtitles but I can go back to phrases that are most colloquial to get translations and learn new words and phrases with as much repetition as I want. Having the script down the side allows you to choose what to hear again and takes learning a step further than just having subtitles. Apart from that it lets you know that the French have a great sense of humour.

I have always struggled to learn new languages for many reasons. Yes it has been great for me to learn vocabulary on apps such as Duolingo and research sentence structures with YouTube, but there are so many phrases out there that don't make sense in another language as they would in English with straight translations. This app helps me see the examples of sentence structures while giving me an entertaining storyline to follow and make visual connections to the text. The direct translation feature from the subtitles helps me to understand the phrases in text and when as well as why they are used when they are. This is a great app if you are a visual learner such as I and love movies and shows for entertainment purposes as well.
