Ken Hirai, born January 17, 1972, in Osaka, Japan, debuted in 1995 with “Precious Junk.” He rose to fame in 2000 with “Rakuen” and the album The Changing Same. His 2004 single “Hitomi o Tojite” was the best-selling song in Japan that year. “Pop Star” (2005) and the 2006 compilation Utabaka cemented his popularity.
